Motoe Set To Scrap It Out At Assen For Round 2MotoE: A fixture on the MotoE calendar in the last four seasons and home to some of the closest MotoE finishes, the charge to Assen begins!

The FIM MotoE™ World Championship rockets back into action this weekend at the legendary TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands as Round 2 in 2025 hones into view. Coming here since 2021 and giving us five different winners, it’s a round – much like the weather – that can be unpredictable. A scintillating start to 2025, the next chapter awaits at this weekend.

Leading the charge with 36 points is Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team), who gave himself plenty of work to do at Le Mans to come through the field but he did just that; three podiums to his name at Assen but nothing since 2023 and no victory, he’ll have his work cut out to defend his title advantage over fellow country Kevin Zannoni (Power Electronics Aspar Team). The #21 was on the podium at Le Mans but only has a best of sixth to his name at Assen, whereas the third Italian in the top three, Andrea Mantovani (KLINT Forward Factory Team), had a best of fifth there in 2023 and aims to continue a solid start to 2025.

After the three Italians at the top, three Spaniards follow. Oscar Gutierrez was the first winner of the 2025 season but a Race 2 fall means he needs to be passed fit at Assen; he was twice P2 there last year, coming from 11th on the grid. Jordi Torres (Power Electronics Aspar Team) aims for back-to-back podiums for the first time since Assen in 2023; the #81 has four Dutch rostrums in total. The top six is completed by Le Mans star Maria Herrera (KLINT Forward Factory Team), who impressed in France with P4 in Race 2 and has scored points in all-but-one Assen MotoE encounter – she was a winner in WorldWCR at the track earlier this season.

Top rookie honours belong to Lorenzo Baldassarri (Dynavolt Intact GP), a WorldSSP podium finisher at the Dutch circuit but after a solid start at Le Mans, can he bridge the gap to those ahead of him? Nicholas Spinelli (Rivacold Snipers Team MotoE) has fond memories of Assen, having taken a heroic WorldSBK win there last year but in MotoE, it was a double DNF in 2024.

Alessandro Zaccone (Aruba Cloud MotoE Team) is P9 overall after a podium and a DNF at Le Mans and hopes to move up this weekend. Romanian Jacopo Hosciuc (MSI Racing Team) completes the top ten and won at Assen in 2021 when he competed in the Northern Talent Cup. Outside the top ten, Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE) wants his first points of 2025 after a double DNF at Le Mans whereas reigning MotoE World Champion Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP) aims to be back after injury ruled him out of Le Mans. MotoE’s first Assen winner, Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), need to be passed fit after his Race 1 crash at Le Mans.
