RACE 1
The third round of the FIM MotoE™ World Championship was a classic with a new name emerging into title contention at the Red Bull Ring. Converting his first pole position for two years, it was a double win from Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE) to end his victory drought but there were plenty of battles to get stuck into.
The opening battle saw polesitter Ferrari lead the charge until he was passed at Turn 4 by Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) but the #40 wasn’t there for very long, crashing at Turn 6 from the lead. A second costly mistake in three races, Casadei was angry as he walked away. This left Ferrari on his own out front whilst behind, the podium battle was fierce, going to the closing stages between Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE) and Eric Granado (LCR E-Team). It eventually went the way of the reigning Champion over the Brazilian whilst Ferrari made it five different winners in a row, aiming to repeat his success in Race 2.
Race 2 was a true classic with a last lap battle between the lead contenders. After Ferrari, Casadei and Garzo swapped places to lead, the race at the front calmed down and the early group of eight fractured. Granado had joined the party in the victory fight but his quest for a first win of 2025 ended at Turn 1 on the final lap as he tucked the front.
This promoted Hungarian rider Tibor Erik Varga (Rivacold Snipers MotoE Team) into third place on the final lap as he aimed to make history. However, making a mistake at Turn 4 allowing Casadei through to lead, Ferrari only had the last sector to make the pass to double up. Hitting the front into Turn 9, Ferrari made it two out of two in Austria. Casadei was second with Garzo securing third ahead of Varga.
24 points cover the top six with four rounds to go; it’s game on in MotoE going to Hungary!
