Compact new eAxle power unit
The new eAxle power unit gives excellent reliability together with strong linear acceleration and an enjoyable riding character. This lightweight and compact design consists of a high RPM air cooled Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) as well as a Motor Control Unit (MCU) and primary reduction gear.
The power characteristics of this clutchless motor have been fine-tuned to optimize the user-friendly and the fun-to-ride feeling that has made Yamaha’s combustion Sport Scooters so successful throughout the world. Maximum power output is 7.5kW at 3500 rpm, with maximum torque of 33.3Nm produced at 500 rpm, giving the NMAX E strong and linear acceleration that delivers a truly enjoyable and rewarding ride
This compact new eAxle power unit is rigidly mounted to the new frame to ensure excellent mass centralisation, contributing towards the NMAX E’s sporty and agile handling. Ride quality is enhanced further by the use of a quiet and efficient belt drive, which together with the eAxle power unit’s virtually silent, low-vibration design makes the NMAX E such a joy to ride on every occasion.
3.5kWh lithium-ion battery
NMAX E is designed for those riders looking for a premium zero emission sporty commuter that can take them swiftly, quietly and efficiently into the city. A newly developed 3.5kWh lithium-ion battery provides the power to the new eAxle drive unit and gives a range of 104km from a full charge (WMTC1 mode with a battery temperature of 25 degrees Celsius).
Fixed securely to the frame and positioned beneath the front of the seat and below the footboards, this battery benefits from a special ‘L’ shaped design that concentrates mass close to the rider and ensures a low centre of gravity. Together with the frame mounted eAxle power unit, this mass centralisation contributes significantly towards the NMAX E’s agile and sporty handling character.
A protective metal plate beneath the battery helps to protect it from bumps and impacts when riding, and the Battery Management System (BMS) closely monitors and manages battery condition including voltage, current and temperature. Manufactured to IP67 equivalent standards, this 3.5 kWh battery is dust and water resistant, making it ideal for daily use in a variety of conditions.
Convenient onboard charger
For easy charging the NMAX E is equipped with an onboard charger with the port located inside the front pocket alongside a USB Type-C port. For added convenience the port is designed to accommodate AC Type 2 public chargers for cars, and the NMAX E can also be plugged in to domestic household outlets using a dedicated cable.**
The onboard charger has an output of 800W and for typical daily use the battery can be charged from 0% to 100% in 5.5 hours with a battery temperature of 25 degrees C and 200V. A special feature of the NMAX E’s onboard charger is its fan-less cooling design that ensures very quiet operation, making it possible to charge the battery virtually anywhere and at any time.

Next generation MAX design and styling
The MAX Family style has continuously evolved for 25 years, and the new NMAX E incorporates a range of new design features that reinforce its MAX pedigree. Minimalist dual eyes at the front and rear together with compact turn signals complement the flowing curves of the new body, bringing performance character and radiating the distinctive MAX DNA.
With its new motorcycle style swingarm design – made possible by the absence of a conventional combustion-type transmission assembly – the NMAX E’s rear end flows seamlessly into the iconic boomerang side motifs to give a premium feel to this next-generation scooter.
Newly developed lightweight backbone frame
To ensure sporty and agile handling together with a smooth, high quality riding experience, Yamaha designers have developed an all-new frame for the NMAX E. Featuring a 1425mm wheelbase, the new backbone design is both light and strong, and the battery and drive motor are centrally located in the frame’s cradle to achieve close to a 50-50 front-rear weight distribution that enables sharp, stable and rider-confident handling. With minimum ground clearance of 135mm, the NMAX E can smoothly negotiate speed humps, and has plenty of clearance when leaning through a bend in the road.
Spacious and comfortable riding position
With its 1425mm wheelbase, 770mm seat height and long footboard area, the NMAX E is designed to accommodate riders of varying sizes and physiques. The long dual seat and spacious interior allow the rider to adapt to the most comfortable riding position, fitting to their size and riding style. The slim bodywork between the seat and footboards makes it easy to get feet on the ground when stopping, and fold away pillion footrests and an integral grab bar make the NMAX E ideal for bringing a passenger.
Newly developed suspension
The suspension system is all new and has been developed to offer the NMAX E rider stable and agile handling, and a comfortable ride. At the front end the telescopic forks are equipped with 33mm diameter tubes that absorb uneven surfaces to give smooth roadholding.
With its powertrain unit positioned in the central area of the frame, the NMAX E is able to adopt a conventional motorcycle-style swingarm design which is around one-third lighter than typical scooter rear suspension systems. The lower unsprung weight gives responsive suspension action, and by positioning the twin shock absorbers directly beneath the rider’s hips, the NMAX E consistently delivers a high level of ride quality as well as good rear wheel traction.
245mm disc brakes with regenerative braking system
Both the front and rear brakes feature a 245mm disc with a single piston caliper that provide strong braking performance in the city and on the highway – and the ABS helps to prevent wheel lock up during heavy or sudden braking as well as when braking on loose or slippery surfaces.
The regenerative braking system adapts itself to match each riding mode and delivers natural and controllable braking that has been designed to feel similar to the engine braking associated with conventional combustion scooters.
New style 13-inch wheels
Model-specific 13-inch wheels ensure a low unsprung weight, and the 110/70-13 front tyre and 130/70-13 rear tyre provide confident roadholding when braking, cornering and accelerating.
Plenty of storage capacity
With a stylish stitched cover and embossed logo at the rear, the spacious and comfortable dual seat projects a feeling of quality, and beneath it there is a large storage compartment that can accommodate a full-face helmet – depending on size and shape. Reflecting the attention to detail to create a high-quality design, the underseat storage – ideal for carrying groceries and other personal items – is equipped with convenient LED lighting, making the stylish NMAX E both a practical and premium scooter for the busy commuter.
TFT display with smartphone connectivity
Offering daytime and nighttime modes, the 5-inch TFT display features a clear, symmetrical layout that gives the rider key information in an easy to understand digital format. The speedometer is in the centre, while the left side has a variety of icons showing the status of the connected smartphone. The right side features a power visualizer that displays battery power output, remaining charge and the regenerative charging status, as well as a needle that moves up and down to represent acceleration or deceleration – and by doing so it conveys the exhilaration of the ride and reinforces the overall riding enjoyment.
New Yamaha Motor On app with turn-by-turn navigation
NMAX E riders can access a wide range of functions including turn-by-turn navigation by installing the new Yamaha Motor On app. Its intuitive design makes it easy to use, and the app’s comprehensive functionality includes four main headings – Home, Ride, Memories and Account.
Riders can view everything from battery settings and maintenance schedules through to parking location, riding log and much more. The Yamaha Motor On app’s turn-by-turn navigation enhances every ride and ensures efficient commuting into the city and enjoyable leisure riding at the weekend, while the wide range of other features enhance the NMAX E ownership experience.
Three riding modes, TCS and APSG
The NMAX E rider can select from three riding modes to suit their riding style and different road or traffic conditions. Mode S delivers the fastest acceleration for a sportier feel, while Mode T gives similar performance but with a smoother throttle response – and with its slightly reduced acceleration and top speed, Mode E is designed for commuters looking to achieve maximum range.
NMAX E also features a Traction Control System that efficiently transfers drive force to the road surface. When sensors detect rear wheel slip the Traction Control System governs motor output, giving added rider confidence during acceleration and when riding on wet or dirty roads. There is also an Accelerator Position Sensor Grip (APSG) that progressively increases resistance through the twistgrip to give the rider high levels of feedback and controllability.
Reverse function
The NMAX E is equipped with a reverse function that makes for easier low speed manoeuvrability when parking in tight spaces or on gentle slopes. The reverse function is activated by pressing the REVERSE button and the left handlebar simultaneously with the MODE button on the right handlebar. Once activated the scooter reverses at a speed lower than walking pace while the rider keeps both feet on the ground. No throttle input is required.
Smart Key ignition
Smart Key ignition makes everyday life simpler. As long as the rider is carrying the Smart Key in their pocket or close by, they can start the scooter and access the storage area.
Premium colours
The new NMAX E is available in two new premium colour schemes that have been designed to convey a clean and elegant air of quality whilst also underlining the pure MAX DNA.
Avio Blue is the modern and stylish new colour introduced to the MAX Family, designed to radiate a feeling of casual elegance. The main body colour is contrasted by the glossy silver boomerang to highlight the flowing styling and underline this new generation Sport Scooter’s dynamic and premium appeal.
The Platinum Silver colour option features silver bodywork for the fairing, legshields and rear body. Contrasting the main bodywork is a glossy black front section around the new minimalist headlights, and the boomerang side motifs are finished in glossy silver to project a feeling of effortless lightness.

The YOU Charge subscription can be obtained through the official Yamaha dealer, after which the charging pass can be activated instantly to charge the new NMAX E.
Yamaha YOU Charge services will launch in the first markets early 2027, with rollout across key European EV markets throughout the year.
